The Eagle Valley Devils''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 48-7 defeat at the hands of Durango. Eagle Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-0.
Caiven Lake threw for 87 yards and a touchdown. Kevin Hasley was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Jaxon Fancher was his usual excellent self, rushing for 96 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Tyler Harms, who threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes.
Eagle Valley's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Delta and 6-2 Basalt (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.6% over those games). As for Durango, the win was the seventh in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Eagle Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Glenwood Springs at 7:00 p.m. Glenwood Springs is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Durango, they will head out on the road to face off against Palisade at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Palisade is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
