The Blue Valley Tigers never got on the board in their matchup last Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against the Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves on Tuesday. They blew past the Timberwolves 62-39. That 23 point margin sets a new team best for Blue Valley this season.
Despite the defeat, Blue Valley Southwest saw an underclassman step up: Mia Hansen scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Hansen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Chaput, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Blue Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-2 record this season. As for Blue Valley Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.
Blue Valley will head out on the road to take on Blue Valley North on Friday. Blue Valley North presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Blue Valley in Kansas (Blue Valley North is ranked third, while Blue Valley is ranked 26th). As for Blue Valley Southwest, they will be playing at home against Bishop Miege on Thursday. Hopefully Blue Valley Southwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
