The Box Elder Bees posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Roy out 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Box Elder to victory were Elijah Kersey and Max Isaacson. Kersey scored 24 points along with three steals, while Isaacson dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Isaacson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Buchanon, who scored four points.
Several Royals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bronson Belnap, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Belnap also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Dahlen Pontius was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The victory (which was Box Elder's third in a row) raised their record to 7-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Roy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Box Elder will be playing at home against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Roy, they will take on Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Viewmont's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
