The Astoria Fishermen will head out on the road to challenge the Scappoose Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Astoria knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Scappoose likes a good challenge.
Astoria came out on top against Seaside on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Fishermen blew past the Seagulls 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Fishermen, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Svensen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Adams went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Adams has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Nayomi Holmstedt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Astoria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Scappoose faced Scio in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Indians fell just short of the Loggers by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Indians have suffered since April 2, 2024.
Aliza Brainerd was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Astoria has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Scappoose, their loss dropped their record down to 17-4.
Astoria's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Fishermen have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Scappoose, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Astoria continue to outrun the ball?
