The Panther Valley Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Southern Columbia Area Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Panther Valley didn't have too much trouble with Lehighton on the road as they won 59-43. The victory was just what Panther Valley needed coming off of a 72-52 defeat in their prior match.
Conner Penberth was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 23 points. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Drew Kokinda was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Southern Columbia Area scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 74-59 win over Nativity BVM. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Panther Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Southern Columbia Area, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Everything went Panther Valley's way against Southern Columbia Area when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Panther Valley made off with a 70-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panther Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
