Grulla is 2-8 against the Bearkats since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Grulla Gators will head out on the road to challenge the Raymondville Bearkats at 8:00 p.m. Grulla has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 2.
Last Tuesday, Grulla had to suffer through a rough 69-26 loss at the hands of the Tarpons. While losing is never fun, Grulla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1310th, while the Tarpons are ranked 493rd).
Meanwhile, Raymondville came up short against the Hawks on Tuesday and fell 52-43. Raymondville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Colt Cavazos, who scored 19 points. Slevin Gutierrez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Grulla has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Raymondville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-21.
Grulla came up short against the Bearkats in their previous meeting back in January, falling 47-41. Can Grulla avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
