Fairbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 9-1 to the Twin River Titans.
Katelin Hynek was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out 7 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up 3 earned (and six unearned) runs off 7 hits (and not a single walk). Those seven batters set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Fairbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Erika Floyd, who went 1-for-2 while logging 1 stolen base and 1 walk.
Even though they lost, Fairbury's pitchers prevented the big hits and finished the game with no home runs allowed. They have not allowed that few home runs since August 25th, when they also allowed zero.
On Twin River's side, JLee Van Driel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The game also marked Van Driel's 13th in a row with at least one hit. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 while posting 3 stolen bases, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs. She also struck out five batters, her most since at least August 21st last year.
In other pitching news, Van Driel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. The game marked her 13th in a row with at least one hit.
