The Burney Raiders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past Chester with a 18-12 victory. For Burney, this counts as revenge for the 30-6 defeat Chester walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September.
Burney found their leader in underclassman Cisco Chacon, who rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Burney's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 5.5 times. Leading the way was Javier Rubio and his 3.5 sacks.
Burney's victory bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Chester, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burney will square off against Tulelake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chester, they will head out on the road to face off against Plumas Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Plumas Charter comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
