Madison-Grant is 8-2 against Mississinewa since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Argylls will be taking part in a tournament against the Indians at 10:00 a.m. Madison-Grant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.5 runs per game this season.
Mississinewa is facing Madison-Grant at the wrong time: Madison-Grant suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell 12-9 to the Golden Eagles. The Argylls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Olivia Dunham put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Grace Wood was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. Mae Ricks was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Mississinewa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Eastbrook 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Like Madison-Grant, Mississinewa also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklynn Nash. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over nine innings pitched. Nash was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Genna Couse was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.
Mississinewa pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Madison-Grant, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Madison-Grant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .439. However, it's not like Mississinewa struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Madison-Grant took their victory against Mississinewa when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Argylls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
