The Hampton Hornets came into Friday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over Stockbridge. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hampton also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Jordan Townsend continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Hampton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dior Smith, who scored 11 points.
Stockbridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chase Little, who scored 12 points, and Kameron Jackson who scored nine points.
Hampton's win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-17. As for Stockbridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will take on Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Mason Lewis and Townsend. As for Stockbridge, they will be playing at home against Lovett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockbridge is coming into the match with 18 straight defeats at home, meaning Lovett will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
