The Creekside Seminoles were the 85-58 winner over the Calhoun City Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Creekside took a 68-50 bruising from Calhoun City on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Creekside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 412th in Georgia, while Calhoun City is ranked 68th in Mississippi).
When it comes to explaining why Creekside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tim Gaulden. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Gaulden scored a full 32% of Creekside's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amadou Onyia was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Creekside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Calhoun City, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Creekside is on the road again on Thursday and play against Archer at 3:30 p.m. on December 21st. Calhoun City and Oxford will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oxford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Calhoun City likes a good challenge.
