The Port Gibson Blue Waves were the 61-58 winner over the Natchez Bulldogs when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Port Gibson fell 48-41 to Natchez on Tuesday.
Natchez's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ronald Ellis Jr, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The contest was Ellis Jr's fifth in a row with at least ten points. William Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Port Gibson bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Natchez, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Gibson will be home for the holidays to greet Warren Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Warren Central is ranked 129th, while Port Gibson is ranked 134th). As for Natchez, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Franklin County at 7:15 p.m. on December 15th.
