The Geneseo Blue Devils will square off against the Wayland-Cohocton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Geneseo will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Geneseo's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Mount Morris. Geneseo not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18th (when they won 14-3).
Oren Ray was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Alec Milne was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Wayland-Cohocton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Haverling, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Wayland-Cohocton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Bauer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Bauer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.
Geneseo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wayland-Cohocton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Geneseo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wayland-Cohocton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Geneseo suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Wayland-Cohocton when the teams last played back in April. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
