The Westlake Wolverines won the last time they faced the Calvert Cavaliers, and things went their way on Friday too. Westlake blew past the Cavaliers, posting a 72-42 victory on the road. That 30 point margin sets a new team best for Westlake this season.
Melvin Newman had a dynamite game for Westlake, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newman has scored all season. Darius Kemper was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Westlake and bumps their season record up to 7-9. As for Calvert, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Thomas Stone the next time they take the court. Westlake will head out to face the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Cavaliers will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
