Basketball Game Preview: Reagan Bison vs. Coral Reef Barracudas

The Reagan Bison will head out to challenge the Coral Reef Barracudas at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Reagan earned a 75-64 win over Downtown Doral. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Dolphins are ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Reagan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Bravo, who posted 18 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Those 18 points gave Bravo a new career-high. Sebastian Gonzalez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Bravo wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Reagan was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Coral Reef, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Miami Beach 73-34. With the Barracudas ahead 45-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Reagan better focus on containing Corey Gellineau and Ashton Williams as the pair were huge in Coral Reef's win. Gellineau scored 12 points, while Williams put up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Charlot, who had eight points.

Reagan pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Coral Reef, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.
