Declo hasn't had much luck against Malad recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hornets will square off against the Dragons at 2:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Declo was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Wendell 10-8.

Makendrie Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Claire Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Alayna Wageman, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Malad came tearing into Monday's match with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Dragons' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.
Sarah Toone looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Hadlee Summers was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Riglee Peterson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Malad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive games.
Malad pushed their record up to 23-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Declo, their record is now 9-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Declo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Malad struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Declo might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Malad in their previous meeting last Saturday. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
