The Central Falcons lost against the Hueytown Golden Gophers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Central took a serious blow against Hueytown, falling 56-28. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Hueytown is ranked 34th).
When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is David McNeil. Despite the final result, he rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Central's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 5-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Hueytown, Hillcrest, and McAdory. As for Hueytown, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hueytown will be playing at home against Gardendale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gardendale knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Hueytown likes a good challenge.
