Given Manual's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Thomas MacLaren School is ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manual's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jovan Collins-Falcon, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Collins-Falcon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deshawn Fox, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Thomas MacLaren School lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Montgomery. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Mathews, who scored six points along with two steals.
Manual has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Thomas MacLaren School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.
