Bloom-Carroll is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Liberty Union is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will host the Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bloom-Carroll's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Highland by a score of 4-0.
Liberty Union not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 19-1). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Eastmoor Academy. Liberty Union's win was all the more impressive since the Warriors were averaging only 3.92 runs allowed on the season.
Owen Thomas made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Tanner Farmer was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Wood, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Liberty Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in six consecutive matches.
Liberty Union is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bloom-Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Bloom-Carroll took their victory against Liberty Union in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
