Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Morristown Yellow Jackets walked away with it. They walked away with a 67-54 victory over the Mohawks on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Morristown.
Morristown was led to victory by DDanika Rutledge and Jayla Keithley. Rutledge dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Keithley dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keithley has scored all season. Alexia Rogers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the defeat, Waldron saw an underclassman step up: Grace Fischer dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Fischer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Benson, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Morristown has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for Waldron, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Morristown will square off against the Twisters at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oldenburg Academy will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. Waldron does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
