Baseball Recap: Sammamish Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Sammamish had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Renton Red Hawks 11-0. Considering the RedHawks have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Barrett Castillo made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Castillo was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also put up two doubles, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Josh Perez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Jack Lansdowne was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Sammamish always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Renton only posted an OBP of .368.

Sammamish's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Renton, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Sammamish has already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Hazen on the 12th. As for Renton, they will challenge Highline at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Red Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
