Eureka faced Round Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eureka took the matchup and then some with a 44-8 victory on Friday over Round Mountain. Followers of Eureka probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
Eureka took a little while to warm up, but they followed up a slow first quarter with 14 points in the second. Meanwhile, Round Mountain couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 14-0 heading into the break. The Eureka defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the contest. The game pushed Round Mountain down to 1-3 and pulled Eureka up to the reverse at 3-1.
Eureka will look to defend their home turf next week against Wells at 7:00 PM. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up. Round Mountain will stay at home against Pyramid Lake at 7:00 PM.
