Even though the Shakamak Lakers have not done well against the Barr-Reeve Vikings recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Shakamak managed a 38-33 win over Barr-Reeve. The win made it back-to-back wins for Shakamak.
Barr-Reeve's loss came despite strong showings from Ava B Carter and Hannah Bledsoe. B Carter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Bledsoe scored ten points. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Shakamak's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Barr-Reeve, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shakamak will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against North Daviess at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. North Daviess is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Barr-Reeve, they will head out on the road to face off against Washington Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
