The Gulliver Prep Raiders will take on the Key West Conchs at TBD on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gulliver Prep has three straight victories, the Conchs have 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Gulliver Prep was able to grind out a solid win over the Mavericks, taking the game 45-34. Given Gulliver Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Mavericks are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gulliver Prep found their leader in underclassman Mikayla Brown, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Brown is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Caitlen Dauphin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Key West was beaten by the Bears 77-39 on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Key West in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.
Gulliver Prep pushed their record up to 13-7 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Key West, their loss dropped their record down to 0-15.
Gulliver Prep came up short against the Conchs in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, falling 61-49. Thankfully for Gulliver Prep, Allysa McRae (who scored 23 points along with seven assists and two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
