Stevens Point has gone a perfect 10-0 against Wausau West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Wausau West will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Stevens Point extended their winning streak to six on Monday. Everything went the Panthers' way against De Pere as they made off with a 16-6 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the match before.
Reanna Canfield was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addi Peskie, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kaitlyn Klismith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Stevens Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as De Pere only posted an OBP of .269.
Meanwhile, Wausau West got the win against Superior on Friday by a conclusive 12-1. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.
Stevens Point's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wausau West, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.
Everything went Stevens Point's way against Wausau West in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Stevens Point made off with a 17-5 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
