The home team had won the previous three meetings between Varela and Columbus, and Columbus kept the tradition alive. The Vipers fell 5-2 to the Explorers on Friday. The Vipers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Varela saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Baluja, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jiovanni Zara also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Varela's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6-2. As for Columbus, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Varela has already played their next contest, a 9-5 win against St. Brendan on the 7th. Columbus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
