The Riverside Bulldogs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the St. Joseph Fighting Irish at 7:15 p.m. on December 7th. Riverside will be strutting in after a victory while St. Joseph will be coming in after a loss.
Riverside has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Leland on Friday as Riverside made off with a 57-32 win. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Leland is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Otis Williams, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wilson, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but St. Joseph had to settle for a 41-39 defeat against West Bolivar last Monday. St. Joseph has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losses dropped Riverside to 5-1 and Leland to 1-4.
Riverside came up short against St. Joseph in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 53-47. Can Riverside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
