Cesar Chavez is 4-0 against Shadow Ridge since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Cesar Chavez Champions will head out on the road to take on the Shadow Ridge Stallions at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Cesar Chavez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 two weeks ago.
Cesar Chavez proved they can win big on January 9th (they won by 34) but two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over Sunnyside. The win was nothing new for Cesar Chavez as they're now sitting on three straight.
Cesar Chavez got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophia Doromal out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Doromal is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Dalaiha Madden was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Tolleson 50-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Shadow Ridge has posted since December 16, 2023.
Cesar Chavez pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points per game. As for Shadow Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cesar Chavez against Shadow Ridge when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cesar Chavez since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
