The Douglass Astros pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mays. It was the first time this season that Douglass let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Douglass lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joshua Mickell. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points. The game was Mickell's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Mays had a senior duo take command as Derron Lindsey ii scored 21 points along with seven assists and Jaqorian Wiggles dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Lindsey ii is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Davenport Cox was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Douglass' loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4. As for Mays, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Douglass will be home for the holidays to greet Banneker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Banneker has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Mays' road trip will continue as they head out to face Decatur at 3:30 p.m. on December 16th. Decatur knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Mays likes a good challenge.
