After six games on the road, Whiting is heading back home. They will take on the Lowell Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Whiting earned a 52-40 win over Griffith. The win was just what Whiting needed coming off of a 75-29 defeat in their prior matchup.
Whiting can attribute much of their success to Torie Davis, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Davis scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Quinones, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lowell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Hobart by a score of 43-34.
Bre Kidd was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 15 points along with two steals. Elysia Laub was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four blocks and two steals.
Whiting's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11-1. As for Lowell, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Whiting have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 31.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Lowell struggles in that department as they've only made 35.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Whiting was dealt a bruising 49-18 defeat at the hands of Lowell in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Will Whiting have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
