North Surry dropped down to 4-2 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a blow against the Mount Airy Granite Bears, falling 63-21. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Granite Bears are ranked 71st).

Although North Surry took the loss, they still got scores from Zamarri Sweatman, Gage Combs, and Cade Atkins.

As for Mount Airy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Taeshon Martin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 232 yards and five scores on only 12 carries. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 10 rushing touchdowns on the season. Kylan Mason was another key rusher, rushing for 76 yards and one TD.

North Surry didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-8 loss against East Surry on the 10th. As for Mount Airy, they have also already played their next game, a 37-3 win against West Stokes on the 10th.
