Even though the Shelby Valley Wildcats scored an imposing 72 points on Saturday, the WestSide Renegades still came out on top. WestSide snuck past the Wildcats with a 76-72 win. Given WestSide's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 41st in West Virginia, while the Wildcats are ranked 167th in Kentucky), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead WestSide to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden French, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Austin Bishop was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
WestSide has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Shelby Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. WestSide will take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shelby Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m.
