Mineral County is 10-0 against the Lakers since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mineral County Serpents will head out on the road to square off against the Pyramid Lake Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Mineral County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully the Lakers like a good challenge.
Mineral County pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-65 to Smith Valley.
Despite the loss, Mineral County had strong showings from DeVayne Isom, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine steals, and Triston Jones, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Isom has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaevaun Jones, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, everything went Pyramid Lake's way against the Warriors on Tuesday as the Lakers made off with a 56-31 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Pyramid Lake had established a 22 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pyramid Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cash Hall, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Takoda Rivers, who scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Mineral County's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-9. As for Pyramid Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Mineral County strolled past the Lakers in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 56-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mineral County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
