Pontiac has gone a perfect 7-0 against Monticello recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Sages at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Pontiac has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Pontiac is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Beecher, who was ranked 20th at the time (Pontiac was ranked 24th). The Indians fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. The Indians have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Elena Krause spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Pontiac saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was India Mattingly, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monticello). Their pitcher stepped up to hand St. Thomas More a 21-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Sages in their matchups with the Sabers: they've now won nine in a row.
Cassidee Stoffel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Stoffel was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Isabella Beery was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sadie Walsh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Monticello kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Thomas More only managed one hit.
Pontiac's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Monticello, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
Pontiac skirted past Monticello 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Sages have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
