This season hasn't been kind to the North Marion Colts, who are still winless after their 13th match. They were dealt a 58-12 loss at the hands of Vanguard on Friday. North Marion was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.
Despite the defeat, North Marion saw an underclassman step up: Amarane Hopkins scored seven points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Hopkins is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Vanguard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aniyah Hope out in front who scored ten points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Sylnya Roberson, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
North Marion's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Vanguard, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.
North Marion will head out on the road to face off against Hawthorne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hawthorne has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three matches. As for Vanguard, they will be playing at home against Buchholz at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buchholz presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vanguard in Florida (Buchholz is ranked 147th, while Vanguard is ranked 433rd).
