It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Arthur County Wolves can now relate to. They took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hay Springs on Friday. Arthur County's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Talan Storer and Jaycen Hanna certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Storer rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, while Hanna picked up 37 receiving yards and a touchdown. Dane Pilakowski also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Gage Mintken was his usual excellent self, rushing for 253 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 37 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Mintken's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Raymer, who gained 66 total yards and two touchdowns.
Arthur County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Hay Springs, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Arthur County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hay Springs will face off against Parkview Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkview Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 209 points over their last four games.
