3A Region II District 12 recap October 1, 2013
Trey Jackson of Princeton ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Region II District 12 this season against Bridgeport last week. Jackson's team bested the Bulls as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 202 in all.
Princeton extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bridgeport, 68-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Panthers' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jourdan Blake threw for 99 and 2 touchdowns and Jakari Dillard had 99 yards receiving. On the ground Jackson chipped in 202 yards.
Ty Chapman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Anna fell to Lone Star. He completed 13 passes for 203 yards and also ran for 41 yards. Chapman's favorite target this week was John Erwin, who caught 5 passes for 52 yards.
Dillard was the best receiver in the league this week as Princeton defeated Danny Henson's team. Dillard tallied 4 receptions for 99 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Taylor McGehee of Melissa is the league leader in passing yards this season with 803. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dillard. The Princeton star has 19 catches for 316 yards.
The Cardinals scaled the state rankings by moving to 142 from 203 this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region II District 12. Melissa was able to move up by topping Paris 43-13.
