The Timnath Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 28 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 73-19 victory over Wellington on the road. That looming 73-19 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Timnath yet this season.
Timnath found their leader in underclassman Gretchen Deines, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Deines set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Another player making a difference was Tiana Guzman, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wellington struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Timnath racked up 18 assists.
The victory was the third in a row for Timnath, bringing their record for this year to 4-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 40 points. As for Wellington, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Timnath will take on DSST: Conservatory Green at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. DSST: Conservatory Green comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Wellington won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sterling at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Sterling focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday.
