Jamarion Pegues Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Starting off the list is Oxford's Jamarion Pegues, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Pegues rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (121.7) per game. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
Oxford moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Pegues and Oxford will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Southaven at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Eric Perry stepped things up a notch to give DeSoto Central the 'W'. Perry was unstoppable, rushing for 128 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
If the past is any indication, Perry could be in store for another big game when he takes on Hernando on Friday. When Perry last faced the Tigers back in October of 2023, he threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns.

Drew Dean Delivers Best Performance of Season
Oxford was led to victory by Drew Dean, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Dean threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown.
For the year, Dean has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 120.8 passing yards per game.

Jason Edwards Jr Turns in Season-Best Effort
Horn Lake came up short on Friday despite Jason Edwards Jr delivering his best game to date. Edwards Jr threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 56 yards.
Horn Lake moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. Edwards Jr and Horn Lake will be playing in front of their home fans against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Lenden Fairley produced his most outstanding game to date while leading DeSoto Central to the win on Friday. Fairley rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 65 yards.
On the season, Fairley has run in 5 touchdowns while averaging 85.8 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had one rushing touchdown.
