Eastbrook is 9-1 against Blackford since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Eastbrook Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Blackford Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Eastbrook will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.
Eastbrook put the finishing touches on their 15th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 70-22 win over Adams Central at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-10.
Eastbrook's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Morrison led the charge by scoring 23 points along with five assists and three steals. Olivia Howell was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Blackford was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 37-32 to Frankton.
Sydnee Morris put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Wicker, who scored eight points.
Blackford struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eastbrook pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.5 points. As for Blackford, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.
Eastbrook and Blackford were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but Eastbrook came up empty-handed after a 38-37 defeat. Can Eastbrook avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
