The Elyria Catholic Panthers will be playing at home against the Midview Middies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of six wins, Elyria Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 75-51 walloping at the hands of Medina. While losing is never fun, Elyria Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Battling Bees are ranked 20th).
Elyria Catholic's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Isabelle Niederst, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Lexi Rodriquez who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Niederst is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Juliana Cerny was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Midview came up short against the Titans on Friday and fell 41-34.
Elyria Catholic's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Midview, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Elyria Catholic, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-39 loss to the Middies in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
