The Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes were the 38-34 winner over the Piper Bengals when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Pompano Beach took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Piper on Wednesday. Pompano Beach has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Pompano Beach still got an impressive performance from Jonathan Berwig, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Rowan, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Pompano Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Piper, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pompano Beach won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hollywood Hills at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hollywood Hills is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Piper, they will head out on the road to square off against Somerset Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Somerset Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Piper in Florida (Somerset Academy is ranked 81st, while Piper is ranked 479th).
