Softball Recap: Sulligent Has No Trouble Against Colbert County

Sulligent's tournament run continued when they took on Colbert County on Saturday. The Blue Devils blew past the Indians 9-2. Considering the Blue Devils have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Audrey Lann, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last six matchups. Another player making a difference was Anna Otts, who earned one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Sulligent has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Colbert County, they moved to 17-15-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Sulligent will host Hackleburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Colbert County, they will head out to take on Red Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
