Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Bristol Eastern

Bristol Eastern had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Avon Falcons with a sharp 11-2 victory. The Lancers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Hailey Beebe made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, one triple, and one double. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maria Albert was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Bristol Eastern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Bristol Eastern's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bristol Eastern is set to challenge their familiar foe Bristol Central at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Avon will take on rival Hall at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
