Catholic is 0-10 against Walsingham Academy since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Crusaders will be playing at home against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Catholic came up short against Collegiate and fell 10-7.
Ryan Markey was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Walsingham Academy came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Seahorses get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Chandler Howlett made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Cooper Enderle looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Edward Holstrom and Corey Overmeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Holstrom fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2, while Overmeyer went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those two home runs gave Holstrom a new career-high. Drew Weddington was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Walsingham Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christchurch School only posted an OBP of .250.
Walsingham Academy's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
Catholic might still be hurting after the 12-5 loss they got from Walsingham Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
