The Berthoud Spartans lost against the Northridge Grizzlies back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Berthoud fell just short of Northridge by a score of 51-49. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Berthoud in their matchups with Northridge: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Berthoud had strong showings from Avery Pfohl, who scored 15 points along with 6 steals, and Ella Strait, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Padilla, who scored 8 points.
Sophia Carbajal was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Northridge's points. Bailey Mcgeen was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Berthoud's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Northridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Berthoud's road trip will continue as they head out to face Colorado Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 7th. As for Northridge, they will square off against Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
