The Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a rough 81-56 loss at the hands of Hope Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), Pojoaque Valley still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Pojoaque Valley still got an impressive performance from Serafin Mendez, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. Mendez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. Nick Manzanares was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Pojoaque Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Hope Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pojoaque Valley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Pintos at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Moriarty is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Hope Christian, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Norte is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
