Astronaut took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Titusville a 9-0 shutout. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Faith Gallini's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Riley Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Daisy Mixson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, New Smyrna Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against DeLand, falling 7-0.

Astronaut's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for New Smyrna Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
New Smyrna Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Astronaut has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for New Smyrna Beach, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 strikeouts. Will Astronaut keep running through batters, or will the Barracudas buck the trend?
