Tupelo extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 1 this week by beating South Panola, 12-3. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Tupelo made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 86 from 142. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 12-3 victory over the Tigers last week.
South Panola's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Rip Kirk threw for 46 yards and Ephraim Kitchens had 46 yards receiving. On the ground Oluwain Hoskins contributed 74 yards. Antavion Reed helped South Panola's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 11 yards.
Lance pogue's team's dynamic duo of Kirk and Kitchens proved to be unstoppable against trent hammond's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Reed helped South Panola's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 11 yards.
Hoskins was a passing and rushing force as the Tigers fell to the Golden Wave.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Southaven's Shea Chism and Terence Davis Jr. have proven to be a lethal combination. Chism has thrown for 3,171 yards this season, while Davis Jr. has 62 catches for 1,062 yards. South Panola's Darrell Henderson leads the league in rushing yards with 2,024.
Hoskins has rushed for 906 yards on 151 carries so far this year.
Tupelo had a great defensive game this week, leading the league in points allowed with 3.
