After flying high against the Leland Cubs last Monday, the Simmons Blue Devils came back down to earth. Simmons fell 55-47 to the Warriors on Wednesday. Simmons has struggled against the Warriors recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Simmons' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Vontasia Rush, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Akiah Prince who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Prince has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Moesha Hoskins, who scored four points.
Simmons' loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Shaw, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10.
Simmons will take on the Choctaws at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. West Tallahatchie is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. Shaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
